Move Fields

Move Fields allows you to move the contents, or value, from any one of the User Defined fields to any one of the following patron fields: Grade Level, Homeroom, Nickname, or another User Defined field.

important Moving the information also clears it from the originating field. Make sure you do not perform this procedure twice for the same fields.

How do I move the information?

1. If you are a district patrons manager, select the district or a site from the In list.

   note You cannot move any information in the patron records of a Media Manager site. Only the administration at the Media Manager site can do so.

2. From the Move Data from list, select the field from which to move the information.
3. Select the destination field in the To list.
4. If you are a district patrons manager and you selected the district from the In list, click Check to view the current labels for the adjacent User Defined field you selected.
5. If you would like the name of the field you are clearing to revert to User Defined <number>, select the Restore the default label… check box. Destiny® will restore the name if it updates at least one patron record.
6. If the destination field already contains a value, select the action you want Destiny to take:
   • To avoid overwriting any existing information in the destination field, select Prevent move…. Destiny then examines all patron records; it stops the procedure if any patron record has information in that field.
   • To skip just the records with existing information in the destination field, select Skip patron…. Destiny then updates all patron records except the ones with information in that field.
   • To update all records, even if any have information in the destination field, select Overwrite….
7. Click Update and then Yes in the confirmation message.

What information does the job summary include?

For each Move Fields operation, Destiny generates a job summary showing the fields involved and the number of patron records updated.

If you selected the Prevent move… check box, the job summary also includes the number of patron records with information in the destination field.

If you selected Skip patron…, the job summary also includes the number of skipped records, the patron names, and links to the records.
