Update District OptionsThis page allows you to configure several options for the entire district. These settings become the default settings for new sites that you create. You can also push some of these settings to existing sites. Access LevelsAs a Destiny Administrator, you can manage Access Levels at the district level either by configuring the default Access Levels that apply to new sites, or by defining and managing the default Access Levels for all sites. Transition to Resource ManagerYou can transition your Destiny Textbook Manager data into Destiny Resource Manager. This lets you manage all of your school's learning and facility resources in None place. important Read through all requirements in the user interface before you proceed. District CalendarYou can specify the default closed days for the entire district, and close or open specific days for a given site type or the entire district. The settings appear immediately at the sites. District "Stop" WordsYou can modify the default Stop Words lists for your district. Stop Words are words that are so common that searching on them is not productive. To save time, Destiny® disregards them when they are used in searches. Please note that any changes you make to the lists require rebuilding one or both keyword indexes. Site Configuration SettingsSite Configuration allows you to customize and set up many of the features in Destiny.
One Search Database InformationYou can configure One Search Databases at a single site and push the configuration to other sites in the district. Catalog OptionsYou can select several options to alter or enhance the appearance and function of Search in the Catalog. You can also select library inventory options. Circulation OptionsYou can set up several circulation limits and policies, define your barcode symbologies, and change the sounds produced by Circulation. Destiny Discover SettingsDestiny Discover must be configured before it can be accessed. For details, see Configure (Destiny Discover). Patron Types and Library Circulation TypesYou can define Patron Types and Circulation Types for your Library Manager sites. Patron Types and Circulation Types that you set up apply to any new sites you create. You can also push Patron Types and Circulation Types to specific sites or to the entire district. Textbook PoliciesIf you have Textbook Manager, you can set the maximum number of textbook checkouts allowed, automatically change copies from overdue to lost after a specified number of days, block checkouts to students who have fines or overdues, and set up auto-conditioning. You can also add, modify, and delete textbook loan periods. You can push all of these settings to specific sites, site types, or the whole district. Limit TasksTo ensure adequate performance, we recommend that you restrict certain tasks from running during normal circulation hours. You can select which tasks to restrict and set the hours and days they are restricted. To determine your high-network-traffic times, you, or your Super Administrator, can review the System Health Reports on the Reports tab. LDAP ServersIf you have an LDAP server, you can configure Destiny to authenticate patron logins with the passwords stored in it. SMTP SettingsBy setting up your mail server, you can enable Destiny and its patrons to communicate by email. Digital Content AccessYou can prevent unauthorized users outside your school from accessing the digital content that is stored on your Destiny server. You can deny access for a single computer or a group of computers by network address. Password PoliciesYou can require a strong password for patron accounts, set passwords to expire automatically, and set the maximum number of failed login attempts. OAuth ConsumersIf you are running both applications, you can configure your Cognite server as a consumer of Destiny resources so that Cognite users can securely access Destiny. Convert Currency CodesYou can convert pricing information on existing library copy records from one currency to another. Auto Update SettingsDestiny automatically checks for available software updates on an hourly basis. As the Destiny Administrator (or Super Administrator in a Consortium), you can have Destiny automatically install the updates on a schedule you set up. Please note that these settings are not available to consortium members or to hosted service members. DownloadsYou can download a zip file containing the current versions of Destiny's command line utilities and XML converters.
