Site Configuration (Destiny Administrator)

Site Configuration allows you to customize and set up many of the features in Destiny®.
You can push each group of settings to a single site, a site type, or the whole district.

Because these pages contain all the settings available in Destiny, the following list indicates the Destiny Resource Managers to which they apply. Please disregard the settings for any Managers you do not have.

Catalog Options

You can select several options to alter or enhance the appearance and function of Search pages in the Catalog. You can also select library inventory options.

  • Reading Program Searches, for Follett Destiny® Library Manager only:
    If your libraries use Scholastic Reading Counts!®, Accelerated Reader™, Lexile measures, or Fountas and Pinnell levels, you can enable library patrons to limit their searches to books in one or more reading programs.
  • Library Title Display Settings, for Library Manager only:
    You can include a reviewer's name in library reviews, set the Visual Search results display format, and select the order of information on the Title Details page.
  • Supported Search Languages, for Library Manager only:
    In addition to English, you can allow patrons to view the Catalog in French or Spanish, or both, and set the default display language.
  • Library Inventory Options, for Library Manager only:
    You can configure the options for shelf-order checking.
  • Miscellaneous Settings:
    • Choose to automatically remove a title record when deleting its last copy, in Library Manager only
    • Set the number of months Destiny retains Basic Search term information, in Library Manager only
    • Allow Destiny Quest® to display a list of suggestions when a patron enters a search term, in Library Manager only
    • Include the New Arrivals list in Destiny Quest, in Library Manager only
    • Ignore leading articles in search terms, for all Resource Managers
    • Select the default theme for Destiny Quest. Each theme consists of a set of background graphics and colors, in Library Manager only
    • Sort search results, in Library Manager and Follett Destiny® Textbook Manager
Circulation Options

You can set up several circulation limits and policies, define your barcode symbologies, and change the sounds produced by Circulation transactions.

  • Loan Policies, for all Resource Managers:
    You can choose to allow materials to circulate between sites.
  • Fine Policies, for Library Manager and Textbook Manager:
    You can choose to automatically calculate fines for overdue library copies and require library and textbook staff to enter explanatory notes when waiving fines.
  • Hold/Reserve Policies, for Library Manager only:
    You can set the number of days required to ready reserves, determine the number of days after which Destiny automatically deletes expired holds, and select the default delivery method for interlibrary loans.
    Please note that you cannot push hold/reserve policies.
  • Preferred Barcode Symbologies, for all Resource Managers:
    You can define the default barcode symbology settings for new sites.
    Please note that you cannot push barcode symbologies.
  • Patron Display, for all Resource Managers:
    You can determine the patron information that appears in Circulation: Patron pictures by default; Homeroom and Grade Level, or User Defined fields, in search results; and define the names of the User-Defined fields.
  • Circulation Sounds, for all Resource Managers:
    You can change the default sound files that are played when certain events occur during circulation.
