Define Resource Groups (DestinyAdmin)

important The Destiny Administrator controls access levels for the district, pushing them to the existing sites in the district. These steps can only be done by the DestinyAdmin.  Only your Site Administrator or your Destiny Administrator can define resource groups.

Before you begin

Before you start defining Resource Groups, it is recommended that you decide how you want to map the new Resource Group field in the .csv file.

important The Patron Import Converter does not determine whether an Resource Group has been defined for a particular Access Level.
Also, the upload does not create Resource Groups.

example If the staff department name is in the .csv file,you can create Resource Groups with the same department names. Then you can map them in the Patron Import Converter. Also, you must map the Access Levels or have the Access Levels mapped.

To define resource groups

  1. Log in as the Destiny Administrator.
  2. If you are not on the Access Levels page, then follow the steps in the blue title bar.
  3. Click Setup > District Options.
  4. In the Access Levels section, click .
  5. Select the District defined access levels will be applied to all sites. Site Administrators will be able to assign rights but will be unable to edit them radio button.
  6. Find the access level you want, then click the edit icon.
  7. Select Resources.
  8. Next to Define Resource Groups, click Setup. The Resource Groups page appears.
  9. Click +Add Group .
  10. In the Resource Group field, type a name for the resource group.
    If you want to make this the default resource group, select Make this the default checkbox. * See important below.
  11. To define what resources the patron can view in the resource tree. To select an entire group, click Select All; to deselect an entire group, click Clear All . You can also select individual checkboxes as needed.
  12. Click Save.

* important The default Resource Group is assigned in: Upload Changes** | Add Patron | Import Patrons |Transfer Patron
** When the field is not mapped the mapped field is unknown, or the Access Level is different from the existing one.

recommendation When you are done defining resource groups, it is recommended that you evaluate the patrons that belong to each Access Level and assign them to the applicable Resource Group.
