Barcode Filters

Because Destiny® handles barcode numbers differently from other resource management software, you may need to reconstruct the barcode numbers for all your copies in Destiny.

Destiny uses a barcode filter to reconstruct your barcode numbers. You may have filters for any combination of Follett Destiny® Library Manager, Follett Destiny® Media Manager, Follett Destiny® Textbook Manager. For each product, a site may have multiple filters defined for different barcode symbologies or lengths.

With a barcode filter in place, Destiny reconstructs your barcode numbers automatically as you scan them. Due to technical limitations of this process, the barcode filter prevents Destiny from performing certain functions.

The easiest way to scan all of your copies (and reconstruct your barcode numbers) is to perform an inventory. After performing your inventory, you can safely remove the barcode filter.

To discover whether a site has one or more barcode filters enabled:

1. Log in to your district as the Destiny Administrator.
2. From the Update District Sites page, edit the site.
3. If a Barcodes… button appears next to Products Installed, barcode filters are enabled for the site.
