Create a booking
- Retrieve the desired copy by entering a title keyword, a call number, or a copy barcode number:
- To search by title:
- Select Title from the Find list and enter a keyword from the title (or part of a word, followed by *) in the box.
If there is more than one available district media center, select to search either your collection or all of them.
- Click Go!.
- To search by call number:
- Select Call Number from the Find list and enter a call number (or the beginning of it) in the box.
If there is more than one available district media center, select to search either your collection or all of them.
- Click Go!.
- If you have the copy at hand, select "Title" from the Find list and scan the copy barcode in the box.
- If a list of titles and the copy availability appears, select the desired title by clicking Book It.
Note To book two or more titles in a series, retrieve one of the titles in the Catalog and click Book Series on its Title Details page.
- If more than one district media center has copies, a From list appears under Requesting.
Select a district media center, making sure that it owns sufficient copies (# copies owned).
- From the adjacent list, select either Ship to patron's site or Patron will pick up.
Please note that you cannot change the delivery method after saving the booking.
(This list doesn't appear for ebooks.)
- If you're booking more than one copy, enter the number of desired copies and click Refresh Calendar.
(This option doesn't appear for ebooks.)
- On the availability calendar, select a booking date—Destiny® automatically enters the end date—or enter the dates in the From and to boxes.
If you need to exceed the maximum loan period, change the end date and select the Override media policy check box.
- Click Save.
If the booking is successful, a confirmation message appears. If there is a conflict, however, a warning message appears. You'll then need to select a new date range or a different title.
Note Destiny may adjust the date range to conform to the delivery schedule.
For example, if a patron requests materials for a Tuesday to a Thursday and the delivery/pickup days for their school are Mondays and Fridays only, the date range is expanded to be from a Monday to a Friday.
The booking appears in the All Bookings list where you can later pull it or add it to a pick list.
If you booked materials belonging to a different district media center, however, it appears on their All Bookings list.
It also appears in the Bookings section of the patron's Patron Status page and in the patron's My Info under Holds where it becomes a link to download the ebook on the beginning date of the booking.
When the patron logs in on that date, Destiny displays a message to alert them.
To clear the information on the page, click Reset on the side menu.
