WebPath Express™

The WebPath Express service gives your students instant access to thousands of relevant, grade-appropriate Internet sites with just one search, directly from Destiny.

Because WebPath Express is an online subscription service, there is no software to install, but you will need to activate the service in Destiny™.

Although WebPath Express can be used with Destiny without any modification, there are a few features and configuration options that you may find useful:

• You can choose to limit the list of websites to those appropriate for certain grade levels and decide whether students have access to the complete list of the web sites for a subject. To configure these options, open the Catalog, then choose Search Setup on the side menu, and then open the Enriched Content Searches tab.
• You can determine whether the monthly theme and the Spotlight appear on the main page of WebPath Express by selecting or clearing the check box on the Catalog tab of Site Configuration in the Back Office.
• You can determine the number of months that Destiny retains search statistics for the report (below) on the Catalog tab of Site Configuration in the Back Office.
• You can submit website and topic suggestions directly to WebPath Express if you have the permission, Submit WebPath Express suggestions, in your Access Level. This permission places a Submit a suggestion link in WebPath Express in the Catalog and a Submit button on a WebPath Express Statistics report that includes searches without results.
• You can prevent any of your patrons from accessing WebPath Express by clearing the permission, Search WebPath Express, in their Access Level.

By selecting WebPath Express from the side menu, your patrons can search for information on the Web. Destiny also includes websites in search results for searches performed in Library Search—Basic, Power, and Visual—and in Destiny Quest—basic, Advanced, and Visual.

If their search results lists are very long, they can apply any of several filters to narrow it.

To see a list of the topics your patrons are searching for/viewing and how often, generate a WebPath Express Statistics report from Reports > Library Reports or Media Reports. These can help you evaluate usage and identify heavily-accessed subject areas.
