Resource Containers

As a district administrator, you can designate a resource as a "container" by allowing it to include other items. You and your site administrators can manage the container by adding and removing items. Sites can then circulate the container without individually checking out and checking in all of its included items.

For example, if you have a mobile tablet cart, you can designate it as a container and include the barcodes of all the tablets in that cart. When the cart is checked out, all tablets associated with it are automatically checked out. Similarly, when the cart is checked in, all associated tablets are checked back in.

Restrictions:

  • Only district-level users can create containers. Site-level users can manage them.
  • Software and textbooks cannot be designated as containers.
  • Items included in a container cannot be individually checked out or checked in.
  • You cannot designate an existing resource as a container if it is already included in a container.
  • You cannot include an item in a container if it already belongs to another container.
