Set up Reading Program Services (RPS) - Accelerated Reader® or Scholastic Reading Counts!®

If your library uses either of these reading programs, you need to set up Destiny®.

First, determine the way you add reading program information to your records:

• You have no subscription: You add the quiz information to the title records manually.
• You have a non-Enterprise subscription: You upload quiz information and download information to your title records in the Catalog.
• You have an Enterprise subscription: RPS and Destiny automatically update your records each month.

If you have a subscription to Reading Program Service for these programs, you need to activate the service in Destiny® to download the quiz and point information.

Whether or not you have a subscription, you need to enable the search limiter for your students.

To activate the service

1. Open Back Office > Site Configuration > Site Info.
2. Make sure you have entered your Site Customer Number.
3. Select Use Reading Program Service (RPS) - AR/RC.
4. To change the frequency of updates, in the Days between ... updates box enter a value (1-99).
5. If you have an Enterprise subscription, also select <reading program> Enterprise subscriber.
6. Click Save.

If you have an Enterprise subscription, Destiny automatically adds permanent reading level and quiz information to all your title (MARC) records that are in the reading program. After that, Destiny updates the information automatically on a monthly basis so that your records contain any new information.

If you do not, you need to upload your quiz files and then download the reading program info in Reading Program in the Catalog.

To enable the search limiter

1. Still in Site Configuration, open the Catalog tab.
2. Under Quiz/Level Based Searches, select the appropriate Support <reading program> Searches.
3. Click Save.

Your library patrons can now limit their searches to books in the program. After searching, the quiz number and point value appear in the Search Results lists, in Title Details, and in Destiny Quest®'s Quick Details.
