Overdue to Lost

If you want Destiny® to automatically change the Status of an overdue copy to Lost after a certain number of days, select the checkbox and enter the number of calendar days.

If you selected the Automatically create fine for lost <product> materials checkbox on the Circulation tab of Site Configuration, Destiny also charges a fine to the patron when making the copy Lost:

  • In Follett Destiny® Library Manager, the fine amount is the Purchase Price from the copy record. If the purchase price is missing, the fine amount is the Max Fine from your Library Policies.
  • In Follett Destiny® Textbook Manager, the fine amount is the Replacement Price from the title record. If the replacement price is missing, the fine amount is the Purchase Price from the copy record. If neither price is in the record, no fine is charged.

Whenever Destiny automatically changes a copy from Overdue to Lost, it creates a job named Overdue to Lost List in the Job Manager. It lists the title, copy barcode number, patron name, patron barcode number, and the fine assessed (if any) for each copy made Lost.

Note If you later check in the copy, any assessed fine is deleted. If the patron has paid the fine, a refund may be generated; Destiny respects your selection for the Lost <product> materials must be returned in a timely fashion to generate a refund check box on the Circulation tab of Site Configuration.
