Manage fine types

Circulation > Fines

Managing fine types includes tasks such as adding, editing, and deleting.

To add fine types

1. If you are not on the Manage Fines Type page, then see Add and edit fines. Complete steps 1-6 in To add a fine, then proceed.
2. In the Fine Type field, type a descriptor for the fine type.
3. Click the Copy Specific drop-down to select how you want to calculate the fine type.

• Copy Specific fine types let you select either a:
• Fixed amount: Type an amount for the fine.
• % of Cost: Type a percentage for the fine.

note  If the fine is based on the cost of the resource, Destiny starts with either the replacement price or purchase price, depending on the setting in Back Office > Site Configuration > Circulation > Create fines using…

• Patron Only fine types are only associated with a patron.

4. Click Save.

To edit or delete fine types

important Any active fines of a fine type need to be reassigned to another fine type that has the same Copy Specific or Patron Only association. Also, system-created fines cannot be edited or deleted.

1. Complete steps 1-3 in the To add fine types section.
2. Find the fine type you want to edit or delete.

• To edit a fine type, find the fine type and click .
• To delete a fine type, find the fine type and click .

3. Click Save.
